10 - 14 - 2016: Continuation of the detail drawings

10 - 14 - 2016:

Today I have to say that I had a few other tasks that needed to get done as well, but I have finished another of the detail drawings for the inflatable Ishani concept.

Today I focused on the deign for the top of the front of the plane as well as the front underside, where Ishani's facial expression (smile) is located.  I have labeled the connecting parts on the drawing as well.

Detail Drawing 2:
Front top and front underside views

I have also taken close up photos of the two part details again,

On the front top piece, the details are mostly green, but there is a brown colored part on the lower detail,

Detail Drawing 2A:
Front Top part

There is something that needs to be pointed out on the close up of the underside: The end with the wavy line continues down to the propeller of the plane but has been left out on the page.  This part is the same scale as front top as well and the nose ends would essentially line up one above the other,
For Ishani's smile I used a peach color with a thick black line through it.  The photo angle however is reversed, so the front is facing up.

Underside (front)

With tomorrow's soccer game, the day could again be short on work, however at this point I am not really in a hurry.  Also, I have decided to go with out the orthographic drawings for now, perhaps later some will be added.

10 - 13 - 2016: Work Resumes on Ishani after a few days off...

10 - 13 - 2016:

I have not been able to get around to doing much on the concept for my inflatable Ishani the last few days, as I have been really under the weather or otherwise too busy.

However yesterday afternoon I finished Sketch 6, which to reiterate is the underside of the plane drawn in a hidden line style.  I had also later finished the first detail drawing, which shows Ishani's face (the part with the eyes) as well as the details for the wingtips on the front (the smaller of the pairs of wings on the plane)

Sketch 6 is pretty much straight forward with no real points that need to be emphasized. The view of the plane is equivalent to Sketch 3.

Sketch 6:
Underside (hidden line)

As far as the first detail sketch goes, the sketch shows key print design elements, such as the eyebrows and eyes on Ishani's face or the little floral patterns on the wingtips.
I had first taken a whole page photograph for the detail page, but also close ups of the specific parts,
The actual parts are not to scale with each other, but rather as whole part drawings.

Detail Drawing 1:
Face and front wing tips
Detail Drawing 1a: Face (Close Up)

The Right Wingtip (Above) and Left Wingtip (Below) - note: the floral patterns have brown stems and purple flowers

With the work from yesterday being posted and explained, I feel that today I am going to continue work on the part details, and likely by tomorrow going to have the front top of the nose and the larger wingtips.  I should state that the wingtip details have a black line on wither end - this is where the wingtip folds upward at on the end.

10 - 10 - 2016: I was under the weather today...

10 - 10 - 2016:
Today I was under the weather for most of the day. Because of this no work was done on the Ishani inflatable concept.  However I can use this opportunity to show the work done on a previous custom project, my 3 meter long SR-71 Blackbird plane, made by Hongyi Toy Manufacturing earlier in summer.
The 3 Meter SR-71 was a hybrid design, with the size based on a plane by the now out of business ICF Toys brand, but with the visual details based on a much smaller plane that was once produced by Rhode Island Novelty Co. (RINCO) - sadly, it is no longer in production either (RINCO is still in business though)
The design work for the Hongyi SR-71 was done in AutoCAD 2016,  It was spread over a total of 6 layouts:

Layout 1:
Top Schematic

Layout 2:
Tail Fin Schematic

Layout 3:
Cockpit Schematic & Print Guide

Layout 4:
Main Body Print Guide (Top)

Layout 5:
Main Body Print Guide (Bottom)

Layout 6:
Tail Fin Print Guide

The photos of the finished product are shown as it is on my bed (with some tail supports as well)
I felt that it came out very well and additionally, it is very high quality. I could not get all of the plane in one photo but have done my best here to show off the finished product.

Back half of the SR-71

A Tail Fin showing engine details & the custom Diamond Claw insignia

The nose of the plane with the Cockpit and plush Ishani next to the plane as well

The back half of the plane, from a different angle.

It is actually 3.4 meters long and it is rather soft and really flexible.  I really love the job that Hongyi Toy Manufacturing had done as well.

10 - 9 - 2016: Building on the completed work...

10 - 9 - 2016

Today the next 2 drawings / sketches have been finished.  In sequence, today the finished ones were Sketch 3 - A full color drawing from the underside of Ishani's nose, and Sketch #5 - a line drawing from the back top side.

In the full color underside drawing, there are a few details that were not as obvious from the other 2 color drawings.  The first of which is Ishani's smile, complete with some lip details.  The second detail is a better showing of the air valve locations, which are notated on the drawing by circular symbols, they have arrows pointing to them as well.  Third I have at least did a better job of showing the rear flaps behind the wings, these stick out from her body at an angle and are not really that big.

Sketch 3 - Underside View

Sketch 5 is very similar to sketch 2 in angle, but the plane has been rotated a little bit.  There are not any specific details to point out on the sketch.  As Sketch 4 corresponded to Sketch 1 and Sketch 5 corresponds to Sketch 2, the final 3 dimensional sketch, Sketch 6 will correspond to Sketch 3.
The notes on the lines discussed in the Sketch 4 section apply to Sketches 5 & 6.

Sketch 5:  Back - top side
     (Line drawing)

Tomorrow I will wrap up the 3 dimensional sketch portion of the project and likely get a decent start on the orthogonal views of Ishani.  After that is finished, it will be time to update details shown in some of the views for use in production.

10 - 8 - 2016: Work on the Ishani Inflatable Plane Continues...

10 - 8 - 2016
Today I created two more drawings of the inflatable Ishani plane, and the design phase of the project is coming along very nicely.

The first of today's drawings shows Ishani from a back top-side perspective, This drawing mainly is to show the design of her 5-blade propeller assembly.  Again the drawing is in full color, with careful attention given to the color details portrayed on a 10" plush of her for reference on the inflatable.

Ishani - Sketch #2:
Back top-side view

I have also notated the seam positioning on the drawing with darkened lines, as well as included a description of the air valves to be used.

The second drawing for today is a actually notated as 'Sketch #4' this is because #3, which is not done yet will be another color drawing and because #4 is the first of the line schematics of Ishani, I figured I would number it as #4:
This drawing is done from a front top-side perspective, and shows internal / hidden parts of the plane in view with dashed lines (-  -  -)  The parts of the plane that would by visible in the view are notated with a solid, continuous line.  Also I have notated the intended air valve locations on the drawing as well, with the main body valve being on the underside in back.  The wing air valves being placed on the underside of the back part of the wings; positioned midway between the body and wingtips. Finally the valve on the propeller would be located in the center of the 'Cone' part of the propeller assembly - which is a smaller, standard pool toy valve, instead of the large type pinch valve used on the other 3 air chambers

Ishani - Sketch #4
Line Diagram 1

Now I have finished half of the three-dimensional perspective drawings and the others will be done soon, in addition, I still need to do the orthographic drawings, but those should be easier as they are two dimensional views.

10 - 7 - 2016 Started a custom design for an Ishani inflatable...

10 - 7 -2016:
Started new inflatable toy project to be made by Hongyi Toy Manufacturing, a custom inflatable manufacturing company in Guangzhou, China; The item is a 2 meter version of Ishani; from Disney Planes. The inflatable Ishani will have a total of 4 air chambers, consisting of her main fuselage (1), wings (2);(3) and propeller (4) The material used will be 0.4 mm (16 ga.) PVC with a glossy finish with full UV printed details. Although she will be a large pool toy size - and will perhaps serve well for this also - She will be a mostly kept indoors, however I would likely sometime enjoy riding her in a swimming pool. She will not have handles attached to her body, unlike standard production pool toys.
Earlier I had done a basic sketch of her, which is from a front top-side perspective:

Ishani - Sketch 1

Over the last year, I have bought 4 inflatable items from Hongyi Toy Manufacturing, with two prior custom designed toys.  Each time I have been very happy with the end product.  Although the prices are rather high, the end product is very high quality. I have also developed a close business relationship with my Hongyi contact, Erin Chen. This shows that the company has a strong sense of professional integrity, and I value this as very much as well.

More About Hongyi Toy Manufacturing:
Hongyi Toy Manufacturing uses double seam technology, with the double seams being heat-sealed by hand and with the utmost care for every item that they produce.  They also utilize some of the best quality materials on the market, which they source directly from the plastic producers.  They also have put quite a decent amount of effort and investment into their printing machines,  At the top of their printing technology is their UV printer.  UV printing, although moderately more expensive than normal printing, is much higher quality.
UV printers use ultraviolet light to quickly dry the ink on the printed matter. The printer uses a flatbed type surface to lay out the printed material while being printed.  These printers are however very expensive, with prices ranging from $50K for a simple 4' x 8' one to $200K+ for larger, and higher quality models.
Hongyi Toy Manufacturing generally creates their inflatable productions from 3D models, with full color details on the model.  For custom created items, they work out the model's fine points with the customer, and change any thing that would need adjusting before actually starting the production. Once the item is produced they also test the item by filling it up for some time to make sure every thing is good, also at this time they send the customer photos of the item as well.  Finally they ship the item out to the customer, making sure they have the right address on file first and every time. Their ship their items fast through DHL, and for U.S. customers, that means that the item gets there in a matter of a couple of days.
They also showcase their inflatable items on their website - http://hongyitoys.en.alibaba.com - this is the main homepage, what most people would be looking for is under Product Categories / Inflatable Shape part of the website.  Also, you can contact Erin Chen at her company email address <hongyi4@hongyitoy.com> as well.
